Geochang-gun Launches Rapid Medical Expense Support Program for Cancer Patients
159 Participants, Additional Budget of 53 Million Won Allocated
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 2nd that it has promptly provided medical expense support through the 'Cancer Patient Medical Expense Support Project' to alleviate the economic burden of cancer patient treatment.
The county allocated an additional 53 million KRW from its own budget to assist 159 applicants who had applied for cancer medical expense support but could not receive it in time due to budget shortages, helping with cancer treatment costs.
The medical expense support targets are medical aid recipients and the bottom 50% of health insurance payers.
Health insurance payers who are diagnosed with cancer after undergoing the national cancer screening can receive up to 2 million KRW annually, and medical aid recipients can receive support for up to 2.2 million KRW per year for most cancer types for up to three consecutive years.
