"Uber + Tmap Mobility Initials Combined" Joint Venture 'Wooti' Launches on April 1
[Asia Economy Reporter Joselgina] The joint venture between Uber and Tmap Mobility, officially set to launch in April, has been confirmed as 'UT LCC'. The official service name and launch date have not yet been decided.
Tmap Mobility, spun off from SK Telecom, announced on the 26th through a notice posted on the Tmap Taxi application that "as of April 1st, the operator of the Tmap Taxi service will change from Tmap Mobility to UT LCC (Yuhan Hoesa Uti)." The name is derived from the initials of Uber and Tmap Mobility. This notice was given 30 days prior to the launch in accordance with the obligation to notify business operator changes. Under current law, notices regarding the transfer of personal information must be given at least one month before the establishment of a corporation.
The full-scale service is expected to begin around this summer. Tmap Mobility explained, "The official service name and launch date have not yet been decided." The CEO of the joint venture has also not been confirmed. However, on the corporate registration certificate, Lee Jong-ho, the first CEO of Tmap Mobility, is listed as the sole registered director and legal representative of Uti.

Meanwhile, SK Telecom announced on the same day that it will invest 73.3 billion KRW in its affiliate Tmap Mobility. The total investment amount has increased to 228.7 billion KRW.
