This agreement was made by a total of five organizations sharing the same intention: the Korea Abalone Producers Wando Association, Wando Abalone Co., Ltd., the Korea Abalone Distribution Association, the Namdo Abalone Federation, and the Korea Abalone Export Association.
The agreement includes plans to stabilize abalone shipment prices, improve the culture of "deom" (extra goods given without charge), exchange transaction statements for fair trade, maintain fair abalone prices, and neither give nor receive "deom" requests. They plan to carry out a "Fair Abalone Trade Practice Movement" to activate fair abalone trade.
If fair trade is promoted, it is expected that a fair production and distribution culture will be established by stabilizing abalone transaction prices between producers and distributors and reducing the occurrence of "deom" transactions.

County Governor Shin Woo-cheol said, “Due to the prolonged COVID-19 economic downturn, the increase in single-person households, and changes in seafood consumption trends, changes in our county’s abalone industry are necessary to respond to these challenges.” He added, “For that purpose, I hope that the activation of fair abalone trade will contribute to the development of the abalone industry.”
