Chain Infection Among Families of Confirmed Cases with Unknown Infection Routes
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] As COVID-19 infections are increasing in the Gwangju area, health authorities are on alert as confirmed cases have also emerged in the Jeonnam region related to a call center of an insurance company.
According to Jeonnam Province on the 25th, 11 people were confirmed positive for COVID-19 in one day, classified as Jeonnam cases 839 to 849. By region, there were 6 in Mokpo, 3 in Haenam, 1 in Naju, and 1 in Suncheon.
Among them, case 849 was identified as a contact of Gwangju case 2023. Gwangju case 2023 is an employee of an insurance company call center in the Gwangju area.
At the insurance company call center, a total of 36 people tested positive from the 22nd to the previous day, including 31 employees, 2 family members, and 3 acquaintances of confirmed cases.
There were also successive family transmissions (cases 841?843 and 846?848) from case 840, whose infection route is unclear. Among them, a colleague of case 842 was also confirmed positive and classified as case 845.
