[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Juhyung] In Yeosu, Jeollanam-do, there are concerns about the regional spread of COVID-19 after infections were transmitted from visitors returning to their hometown during the Lunar New Year holiday.
According to Yeosu City on the 21st, six Yeosu residents (Yeosu cases 50 to 55) were confirmed positive for COVID-19 on the 20th.
It is presumed that they were infected through contact with Jeonbuk Wanju case 32, who visited their family home in Yeosu from the 11th to the 15th during the Lunar New Year holiday.
Yeosu City received notification of the confirmed cases from the Wanju County Public Health Center and conducted COVID-19 diagnostic tests focusing on family members who had close contact.
As a result of the tests, five family members of Wanju case 32 (Yeosu cases 50 to 54) were confirmed positive, and Yeosu case 55, an acquaintance of Yeosu case 53, also tested positive.
