"Galaxy S21 Latest Features Also Available on Galaxy S20" Samsung Electronics Begins 'One UI 3.1' Update
One UI 3.1 Update Begins on the 18th for Flagship Smartphones from 2020
Supports New Features Including Powerful Camera, Display, and Security of 'Galaxy S21'
One UI 3.1 Update Support Models and Countries to Continue Expanding
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Samsung Electronics' flagship smartphone 'Galaxy S21' series' latest features can now be enjoyed on the 'Galaxy Z Fold2', 'Galaxy S20' series, and others.
On the 18th, Samsung Electronics announced that starting in South Korea and Europe, it will support some new features of the Galaxy S21's camera, display, and security on existing smartphones through its proprietary user experience (UX) 'One UI 3.1' update.
The target devices are Galaxy Z Fold2, Galaxy Z Flip 5G, Galaxy Z Flip, Galaxy S20 series, Galaxy S20 FE, and Galaxy Note20 series. Samsung Electronics plans to continuously expand the devices and countries supported by the One UI 3.1 update.
One UI 3.1 supports professional-level photo and video shooting. 'Single Take,' which creates various images and videos with one shot, allows photo and video capture for up to 15 seconds and supports various effects such as Highlight Reel.
In Pro Video mode, multi-microphone recording is supported. While shooting with the smartphone, microphones of the Galaxy Buds series can be used wirelessly like external microphones, enabling clear recording of both the user's voice and surrounding ambient sounds simultaneously.
The Galaxy S20 series, Galaxy S20 FE, and Galaxy Note20 series also support the 'Zoom Lock' feature, which automatically stabilizes from 20x zoom, allowing distant subjects to be captured without shaking.
One UI 3.1 offers the editing tool 'Object Eraser (AI Eraser)' that helps achieve perfect photos after shooting. Without installing separate editing programs or manually selecting parts to remove, users can simply touch the area they want to delete, which is then automatically selected and erased.
Additionally, it supports the 'Eye Comfort Shield' mode, which automatically adjusts blue light by analyzing the time zone and the user's smartphone usage patterns, helping users' sleep and eye health. It also supports the 'Private Share' feature, allowing users to set who can access shared content and for how long. Location information can be removed before sharing photos.
Furthermore, the automatic switching (Auto Switch) feature will be supported, enabling Galaxy Buds series users to seamlessly continue calls and multimedia playback between Galaxy smartphones and tablets without reconnecting each time.
