Jeonnam Police Arrest 280 People in 424 COVID-19 Violation Cases
Swift and Strict Investigation to Prevent Infection Spread
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] The Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency announced on the 16th that from March last year to the 15th, they deployed 841 members of a rapid response team to focus on illegal activities related to COVID-19, arresting a total of 280 people in 424 cases, among whom 16 were detained.
Additionally, 29 cases involving 29 individuals are currently under investigation.
According to the Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency, they apprehended 61 people in 54 cases violating the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act, 35 people in 35 cases of violent acts related to not wearing masks (2 detained), 60 people in 248 cases of mask sales fraud (13 detained), and 99 people in 66 cases of mask hoarding (1 detained).
They received 77 administrative support requests from local governments and others, such as confirming whereabouts or location information, and promptly notified relevant parties, maintaining a close cooperative system with health authorities.
They also arrested 36 people in 34 cases of quarantine order violations, 16 people in 11 cases of entry and gathering ban violations, 5 people in 5 cases of obstruction of epidemiological investigations, and 28 people in 28 cases related to the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act involving assault and obstruction of business due to not wearing masks, as well as 4 people in 4 cases violating the Special Act (assault on drivers).
They cracked down on 60 people in 248 cases of mask sales fraud (13 detained), 99 people in 66 cases of mask hoarding, 20 people in 16 cases of spreading false information, and 4 people in 4 cases of personal information leakage.
