'Semiconductor, Battery, and Electric Components' Core Businesses... The Beginning of Securing 'Skilled Talent'
Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, Samsung SDI, LG Electronics Begin Full-Scale Experienced Employee Recruitment
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] Major companies are accelerating the recruitment of skilled talent, focusing on business sectors with bright prospects this year, such as semiconductors, batteries, and automotive electronics.
According to industry sources on the 14th, Samsung Electronics' Device Solutions (DS) division, Samsung SDI, SK Hynix, and LG Electronics' Vehicle Solutions (VS) division are currently hiring experienced professionals.
Samsung Electronics' DS division is accepting applications until the 22nd from the Memory Business Unit, System LSI Business Unit, Foundry Business Unit, Semiconductor Research Institute, and Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology. They plan to hire personnel in future business areas such as next-generation automotive DRAM, next-generation Z-NAND following V-NAND flash, application processors (AP), and foundry R&D.
SK Hynix is recruiting experienced professionals across more than 20 diverse business areas, focusing on DRAM and image sensors (CIS). The application deadline varies by field, ranging from today until July 7. The large-scale recruitment of experienced professionals by Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix is interpreted as preparation for the semiconductor market entering a boom phase this year.
In the battery sector, Samsung SDI is accepting applications for experienced professionals until the 24th in areas including mid-to-large-sized batteries for automobiles, small batteries, electronic materials, research institutes, technology innovation centers, and marketing. The recruitment includes next-generation all-solid-state battery development and battery safety research, topics previously discussed between Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong and Hyundai Motor Chairman Chung Eui-sun last year.
LG Electronics is hiring experienced professionals in seven fields within the VS headquarters, including infotainment software, graphic software, and digital marketing. The application deadlines are either the 15th or 18th, depending on the field. LG Electronics decided in December last year to establish a joint venture in the electric vehicle powertrain sector with Magna International, the world's third-largest automotive parts supplier based in Canada, anticipating high growth potential in the future car market. They aim to return to operating profit in the second half of this year.
LG Innotek is also recruiting both new and experienced employees in the automotive parts R&D sector related to vehicle electronics. Additionally, LG Electronics is hiring experienced professionals for the development of the AI-related home appliance management application, 'LG ThinQ App.'
As major conglomerates such as Samsung, SK, and LG launch large-scale recruitment of experienced professionals in core business areas, the industry is closely monitoring the situation. This is because there have been cases where dissatisfied members at SK Hynix, where a recent bonus dispute erupted, have expressed intentions to move to other companies that have started hiring experienced professionals.
