Nuclear Decommissioning Project Advances... Withtec Obtains 'Radioactive Isotope Usage Permit'
[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] Molecular contamination analysis company Widtec has obtained permission to use radioactive isotopes. This is seen as a stepping stone to actively advancing the nuclear power plant decommissioning business.
Widtec announced on the 8th that it acquired 'permission to use radioactive isotopes' from the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission and the Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety on the 4th. Accordingly, the company can now actively pursue the analysis and treatment of radioactive waste generated from nuclear power plants, expanding beyond its existing molecular contamination monitoring equipment development business.
Widtec is already conducting a project commissioned by the Korea Institute of Energy Technology Evaluation and Planning to develop a 'Mobile Nuclear Power Plant Decommissioning Radioactive Waste Analysis System' with a total research budget of 4.7 billion KRW.
