LGU+ "Child Missing Prevention Fingerprint Pre-Registration Up 420%... Expanded to Nationwide Stores"
[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Cho] LG Uplus announced on the 7th that, buoyed by the success of the ‘Pre-registration of Fingerprints and Others’ campaign conducted with the National Police Agency to prevent child disappearances, it will expand the program to approximately 2,200 stores nationwide.
The pre-registration of fingerprints and others is a system where fingerprints, facial images, photos, and guardian contact information of children are registered in advance in the police system to prevent child disappearances and enable a swift return to their guardians. Typically, it takes an average of 56 hours to find a missing child, but registering such information in advance can reduce this to 52 minutes (1/65th of the time).
LG Uplus has been conducting a public interest campaign with the National Police Agency since October last year to promote the pre-registration system, aiming to contribute to preventing child disappearances and ensuring children’s safe daily lives. As a result, the total number of registrations increased by 420% compared to the same period last year.
Starting in February, the effectiveness of the pre-registration system will be expanded nationwide. To make it easier for more parents and children to recognize and participate, the registration service, which was previously conducted at 142 stores nationwide, will be expanded to about 2,200 LG Uplus stores. Guardians and children can visit the stores together and register following the staff’s guidance.
The pre-registration of fingerprints and others can be done by using the National Police Agency’s ‘Safe Dream’ application or by visiting a police station or LG Uplus store and following the staff’s instructions.
