First Career Recruitment of Abuse Prevention Police Officers and Video Analysis Personnel
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] The National Police Agency announced on the 7th that it has opened the recruitment exam for police officers in the first half of the year, with a total of 3,124 positions, including 304 experienced hires and 2,820 open recruitment for patrol officers.
The open recruitment for patrol officers will also recruit 2,820 people, an increase of 221 from the first half of last year, including 791 for the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency and 377 for the Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency.
Experienced hires will be conducted in 11 specialized fields, including 20 lawyers, 25 Abuse Prevention Officers (APO), 40 victim psychology specialists, 8 crime analysts, and 12 video analysis personnel.
In particular, this year's experienced recruitment focuses on selecting experts to prepare for the changing police environment. Following the launch of the National Investigation Headquarters and the establishment of a responsible investigation system, 20 lawyers will be recruited in the first half of the year, and an additional 20 lawyers will be recruited in the second half. Lawyers will be hired at the rank of Police Inspector (Gyeonggam).
Additionally, to prepare for the transfer of counterintelligence investigation authority to the police, 15 foreign language experts in Chinese, Russian, Thai, and Vietnamese will be selected and trained as elite security personnel.
The abuse prevention and video analysis fields will also be recruited for the first time this year. Applicants for the abuse prevention field must hold a master's degree in child, family, psychology, social welfare, or women's studies, or a bachelor's degree in a related field with at least two years of experience at a specialized institution. Upon hiring, they will be appointed as Police Corporals (Gyeongjang) and will professionally perform abuse prevention duties in the women's and youth departments of police stations for five years.
Applicants for the video analysis field must hold a master's degree in video studies, multimedia studies, photography, computer engineering, or a related bachelor's degree with at least one year of experience in video and image analysis or facial recognition. Video analysis personnel will be appointed as patrol officers (Sun-gyeong) and will be responsible for the professional analysis and appraisal of various video evidence in the forensic investigation department for five years.
