On the morning of the 4th, the agency alliance of the four courier companies held a press conference in front of the National Assembly in Yeouido, stating, "It has been revealed that an additional (second) agreement was drafted excluding the agency alliance," and added, "We cannot accept the provisional agreement reached."
Previously, the courier labor and management signed the first agreement on the 21st of last month, but as differences remained over the specific timing and method of deploying sorting personnel, tensions arose, leading to a second agreement on the 28th.
According to the agency alliance of the four courier companies, the second agreement was conducted only between the Social Agreement Organization and the Overwork Death Countermeasure Committee, during which the courier operators promised to deploy sorting personnel by that day.
Kim Jong-cheol, chairman of the CJ Logistics Courier Agency Alliance and representative of the agency alliance at the Social Agreement Organization, stated, "This additional (second) agreement is a complete exclusion and a thorough disregard of the agencies. Our agency alliance cannot accept the additional agreement born in secrecy, and no matter how favorable the contents are to the agencies, we cannot recognize its legitimacy."
The agency alliance emphasized that all future responsibilities arising without reflecting the opinions of the agencies lie with the Social Agreement Organization.
The agency alliance announced that if the invalidity of the second agreement is not accepted, approximately 45,000 affiliated couriers will refuse to participate in collection starting from the 17th. The four courier companies handle about 20 million domestic courier shipments daily, accounting for approximately 80-85% of the total volume.
