Chungnam Invests '315.8 Billion KRW' in Local Stream Maintenance Projects
[Asia Economy (Hongseong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Chungnam Province will invest a total of 315.8 billion KRW in local river maintenance projects this year.
According to the province on the 3rd, this year in Chungnam, five projects will be carried out: local river maintenance in 53 districts (105.7 billion KRW), natural-style beautiful small river development in 45 districts (39.6 billion KRW), establishment of basic river plans in 6 districts (1 billion KRW), river-related maintenance and management (28.7 billion KRW), and local river disaster recovery (140.8 billion KRW).
The local river maintenance project involves repairing embankments, bridges, and other structures around rivers to prevent disasters, with the province and city/counties implementing the project in 34 and 19 districts respectively.
This year, six new districts have been added to the project sites, including Nonsan Yangjoncheon, Cheonan Panjeongcheon, Dangjin Chodaecheon, Geumsan Seonggokcheon, Seocheon Sollicheon, and Asan Dunpocheon.
The province plans to accelerate the project start this year to raise the execution rate to over 60% in the first half of the year. In particular, maintenance and management projects such as dredging sediment in national and local rivers, repairing and reinforcing facilities, safety inspections, and riverbed maintenance will be expedited to be completed before the rainy season in June.
Additionally, the province will also support the maintenance projects for a total of 7 districts (41 km) of national rivers promoted by the Daejeon Regional Land Management Office.
