[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] On the 2nd, Park Jun-hee, Mayor of Gwanak-gu, participated in the '119 Relay Challenge,' which was nominated by Lee Seung-ok, Mayor of Gangjin-gun, to encourage the installation of residential fire safety equipment in each household to reduce casualties caused by winter house fires.
The 119 Relay Challenge is an SNS campaign activity that started on November 9th last year, the 58th Firefighting Day, to raise awareness of the importance of fire detectors and extinguishers that can protect lives and property in the early stages of a fire and to encourage their installation.
Participants take a photo with the phrase "1 - One fire extinguisher and detector for each house and vehicle, 1 - One fire extinguisher and detector, 9 - Let's equip them" and upload it to social networking services (SNS) such as Facebook, then designate the next participant.
Mayor Park Jun-hee, while participating in the challenge, said, "Residents are exposed to fire risks due to the dry environment and increased use of heating appliances in winter," and urged, "Since recovery is difficult after a fire occurs, let us equip each household with fire extinguishers and fire detectors to prevent casualties and property damage."
