Gyeongnam Province Conducts Special Surveillance Activities for Unauthorized Wastewater Discharge
Special Water Pollution Monitoring Conducted from the 1st to the 14th
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Gyeongsangnam-do will conduct special water pollution monitoring activities from the 1st to the 14th to block illegal discharge of pollutants during the Lunar New Year holiday, when management may become lax.
In particular, focused monitoring will be conducted on industrial complexes and other factory-dense areas, surrounding streams, and environmental infrastructure such as public wastewater treatment facilities.
Before the holiday, cooperation letters requesting voluntary inspections will be sent to 3,585 water pollution discharge facilities in operation, and monitoring and patrols will be strengthened for specific water pollutant discharge companies, factory-dense areas, and surrounding streams.
During the holiday, measures will be taken to prepare for environmental pollution accidents in areas where pollutants may flow into streams.
During last year’s special monitoring period over the Lunar New Year holiday, 117 businesses were inspected, and administrative actions were taken against 5 violating businesses.
