LG Electronics Operates 'LG Hope School' in Congo: "Installing Solar Charging Systems in Schools"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] LG Electronics announced on the 28th that it has recently launched the 'LG Hope School' project to improve the educational environment and assist with electricity supply at elementary schools in Goma, eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo.
LG Electronics has been operating the LG Hope School project to improve the educational environment for underprivileged children overseas, starting in Kenya in 2012 and expanding to countries including the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Considering the unstable electricity supply in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, LG Electronics installed an eco-friendly solar charging system called 'Solar Cow' that can charge portable auxiliary batteries at three elementary schools in Goma. This allows students to charge portable auxiliary batteries while attending classes at school. The charged batteries are used in various ways at home, such as charging mobile phones or turning on lights.
