Changwon City, Masan Area Recycling Site 'Still Not Being Respected'
"Awareness Shift Needed for Proper Waste Separation"
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Changwon City in Gyeongnam visited the Masan area recycling separation and collection site on the 27th to directly inspect the discharge and collection situation.
Since January, the Masan area has completely improved the discharge and collection system to increase the low resource recycling rate and reduce resource damage caused by compression.
On Mondays, only colorless and colored PET bottles and vinyl products can be discharged, and other recyclables must be discharged on designated days by eup, myeon, and dong. The recycling collection vehicles have also been completely upgraded to non-compression vehicles.
As a result of monitoring, colorless and colored PET bottles and vinyl products discharged only on Mondays were not well observed, and mixed discharge was still frequent.
Due to this, collection throughout the area is not smooth, and problems such as long collection times caused by bulky Styrofoam and plastics are being addressed through focused on-site inspections.
