Gyeongbuk Province Supports Installation of 10,000 Eco-Friendly Home Boilers... 600,000 KRW for Low-Income Households
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Gyeongsangbuk-do announced on the 24th that it will support the installation of about 10,000 household eco-friendly boilers (city gas) this year, which have a significant effect on reducing fine dust emissions.
Through this project, when replacing a general household boiler with an eco-friendly boiler, 200,000 KRW will be supported, and low-income households can receive 600,000 KRW, which is 100,000 KRW more than last year.
Eco-friendly boilers refer to products certified by the Environmental Label of the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute, meeting standards such as nitrogen oxide (NOx) emission concentration below 20 ppm and energy consumption efficiency above 92%. These boilers emit nitrogen oxides, a cause of ultrafine dust, at about one-eighth the level of general boilers, and have high thermal efficiency, resulting in an annual fuel cost saving of approximately 130,000 KRW.
Applications for subsidy support are made by the purchaser directly or through the boiler installation company at the environmental department of the relevant city or county after the announcement of the project implementation by each city or county (scheduled for January to February).
Jo Gwang-rae, Director of the Environment and Forestry Resources Bureau of Gyeongbuk Province, said, "Using eco-friendly boilers reduces heating costs while also lowering fine dust and greenhouse gases," and added, "In households located in air management zones, installation is mandatory, and since the support amount is also increased for low-income households, we ask for great interest in the support project."
