Geumcheon-gu Provides 90 Million Won in Onnuri Gift Certificates (50,000 Won per Household) to Lower-Income Groups
Priority distribution to 1,672 existing lower-income households in January... Additional support to 128 newly selected households in 2021 by March
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) is providing a temporary support measure of 50,000 KRW in Onnuri gift certificates per household to the lower-income class in the welfare blind spots amid growing resident anxiety due to the resurgence of COVID-19.
The district will support a total of 18 million KRW to 1,800 lower-income households during the winter months from January to March.
Through each community service center, 1,672 existing lower-income households will receive 50,000 KRW in Onnuri gift certificates per household in January, and an additional support will be provided to 128 newly selected lower-income households in 2021 by March.

Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “The number of low-income residents is steadily increasing due to job losses caused by the spread of COVID-19,” adding, “We will continuously identify and support residents in welfare blind spots by utilizing the Geumcheon-type welfare delivery system and continue to seek support measures for the lower-income class, who receive relatively fewer government benefits.”
