Seoul Reports 145 New COVID-19 Cases Yesterday... 19 Infected at Dongdaemun-gu Sauna

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] A cluster infection of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) occurred at a sauna in Dongdaemun-gu and a nursing facility in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
As of midnight on the 17th, Seoul city announced that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Seoul area increased by 145 from the previous day, bringing the total cumulative confirmed cases to 22,484.
At a sauna located in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul, after the first confirmed case was reported on the 5th, 18 people including employees and users of the sauna have been confirmed positive so far. At the Jongno Senior Tower nursing home in Jongno-gu, after a family member of a caregiver was first confirmed positive on the 10th, 8 additional cases including family members and patients have been confirmed.
The quarantine authorities conducted diagnostic tests on 271 people related to the Dongdaemun-gu sauna and 239 people related to the Jongno nursing home, and completed emergency quarantine measures at each facility.
Among the confirmed cases on this day, there was an increase of one case each related to the Sangju BTJ Yeolbang Center (cumulative 15), a religious facility in Jungnang-gu (cumulative 65), Nursing Hospital I in Yangcheon-gu (cumulative 44), residents and nursing facilities in Seongdong-gu (cumulative 24), and the U.S. military base in Yongsan-gu (cumulative 17).
Other cases include 66 who had contact with confirmed patients, 5 who had contact with confirmed patients from other cities or provinces, 3 imported cases, and 47 cases with infection routes under investigation.
The number of deaths increased by 3, bringing the total cumulative deaths to 265.
So far in Seoul, 17,093 people have been declared recovered and discharged, and 5,126 are currently in isolation and treatment.
