DAPA Diagnoses Cybersecurity Vulnerabilities in 10 Defense Industry Companies
[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter]The Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) is promoting a 'Cyber Security Vulnerability Diagnosis Project' to prevent hacking damage targeting defense contractors. This project involves inspecting internet servers and email systems operated by defense contractors to diagnose potential hacking risk factors.
DAPA explained on the 11th, "Recently, hacker activities aimed at stealing technical data from domestic defense contractors have increased, and with the rise of remote work due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the possibility of cyber intrusion incidents has grown, which is why we are promoting this project."
DAPA plans to select 2 large companies and 8 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through a public announcement by the 20th. Companies wishing to participate in the project should check the application methods and related forms on DAPA's website. Selection will consider factors such as last year's integrated survey scores on defense industry technology protection, whether employees work remotely, the status of internet server ownership, and recommendations from the Korea Defense Industry Promotion Association.
