US Prosecutors Indicate Investigation into Trump Over Capitol Riot: "All Involved Will Be Investigated"
"Not only the Intruding Protesters but Also All Who Assisted or Incited Them Are Subject to Investigation"
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] The U.S. federal prosecutors are expected to investigate the role that President Donald Trump played in the incident where supporters stormed the Capitol building.
On the 7th (local time), Michael Sherwin, Acting U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, stated, "We will investigate not only those who stormed the Capitol building but also everyone involved in the situation at that time," adding, "This includes those who incited, assisted, or provided aid in the incident. We will investigate all actors and all criminal acts."
When asked again whether President Trump is included in the investigation, Acting U.S. Attorney Sherwin said, "We will investigate everyone who played a role, and if there is evidence related to a crime, we will prosecute." Prior to the supporters storming the Capitol, President Trump had said in a speech, "fight like hell." The U.S. media and political circles view President Trump as the main figure responsible for turning the protesters into rioters who breached the Capitol.
