Seonam Firefighters Dispatched for COVID-19 Response in the Capital Region Show 'Beads of Sweat' in Support Activities
On the 14th of last month, 10 ambulances and 42 personnel were dispatched... 186 confirmed patients transported
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Jeonnam Fire Department dispatched to the Seoul metropolitan area is working hard to support the transport of COVID-19 patients.
The Jeonnam Fire Headquarters (Chief Ma Jaeyoon) announced on the 7th that since December 14 of last year, they have urgently supported 10 ambulances and 42 personnel, transporting 186 confirmed patients in relation to COVID-19 response in the metropolitan area.
On December 13, due to the spread of COVID-19 infections in the metropolitan area (Seoul, Gyeonggi, Incheon), the National Fire Agency issued the "Nationwide Ambulance Mobilization Order No. 1," deploying 45 ambulances and 180 paramedics from across the country.
The Jeonnam Fire Department deployed 5 ambulances and 21 personnel in two 24-hour shifts, stationed in the Gyeonggi area, tasked with transporting COVID-19 confirmed patients to residential treatment centers and dedicated hospitals. They plan to support a third ambulance team on the 11th.
In the Gyeonggi area, 20 ambulances are currently supporting daily operations, having transported a total of 761 confirmed patients since the mobilization order was issued. The average number of patients transported per ambulance is 38, which is 4.8 times higher than the 7.5 patients per ambulance in Gyeonggi.
Earlier, during the peak of COVID-19 centered in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions in February and March, Jeonnam Fire Department urgently supported 49 ambulances and 102 paramedics in Daegu, transporting 414 confirmed patients to hospitals or isolation facilities.
