'Death Penalty Sought for Man in His 30s in Dangjin Sisters' Murder Case... Defendant Previously Claimed Diminished Mental Capacity'
Prosecutors: "Defendant Took Victim's Life Through Brutal Crime"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Juhyung] The prosecution has demanded the death penalty for a man in his 30s who killed his girlfriend and then broke into his sister-in-law's house and killed her as well.
On the 6th, the Criminal Division 1 of the Seosan Branch of the Daejeon District Court (Presiding Judge Kim Sujeong) held the sentencing hearing for Kim Mo (33), who is accused of robbery and murder, and requested the death penalty, the highest sentence in court, stating, "The defendant who took the lives of the victims through a brutal crime must be severely punished."
Kim is accused of strangling his girlfriend B, who was in an apartment in Dangjin, Chungnam, to death around 10:30 p.m. on June 25 last year. Immediately after the crime, Kim is also accused of breaking into the home of B's sister C, who lives in the same apartment, and killing C when she returned home from work early the next morning, then fleeing the scene.
During his escape, he stole C's car and caused a traffic accident while driving.
It was also found that Kim attempted to cover up the crime by withdrawing money using the victim's credit card and sending KakaoTalk messages to the victim's family and acquaintances from the deceased girlfriend's phone.
