He emphasized again, "We must remove the deeply ingrained factional logic and shake off ideological excesses," adding, "We must achieve national unity through pragmatic politics that transcend factions and ideology."
At the conference, Park also announced plans to form a special committee on COVID-19, promote bipartisan diplomacy, and establish the National Unity Committee as part of his New Year's vision.
He stated, "The committee will serve as a melting pot for national unity that blends the divided public opinion of the people."
While emphasizing national unity, Park refrained from commenting on the controversial issue of pardoning former presidents. He drew a line by saying, "It is not appropriate to publicly mention this as the head of the legislative branch."
