Jeong Gyeong-sim's Second Trial, Lee Jae-yong Assigned to 'State Manipulation' Court Panel
[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] The second trial panel for Professor Jeong Gyeongshim of Dongyang University, who was indicted for her children's admission bribery and private equity fund suspicions and sentenced to 4 years in prison and detained in the first trial, has been decided.
According to the legal community on the 5th, the Seoul High Court assigned Professor Jeong's appeal case to Criminal Division 1 (Chief Judges Jeong Junyoung, Song Youngseung, and Kang Sangwook).
The Seoul High Court Criminal Division 1 is the panel handling the retrial of Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong's 'state power abuse' case, with a verdict scheduled for the 18th. In February last year, it also sentenced former President Lee Myung-bak to 17 years in prison and re-arrested him on charges including embezzlement and bribery.

Meanwhile, Professor Jeong was sentenced to 4 years in prison and fined 500 million won in the first trial and was detained in court. A confiscation order of 138.94 million won was also imposed.
