'COVID-19 Test Disturbance' Arrest Warrant for Man in His 60s Denied: "No Flight Risk"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Suhwan] A detention warrant for Mr. A, a man in his 60s who caused a disturbance including verbal abuse toward medical staff while undergoing a COVID-19 test at a screening clinic, was dismissed.
According to the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul on the 5th, the court held a pre-trial detention hearing for Mr. A the previous day and dismissed the warrant, citing "no risk of flight and a fixed residence." Accordingly, Mr. A will be investigated by the police without detention.
Mr. A is accused of verbally abusing Nurse B (32) who was collecting a specimen for a COVID-19 test at the Gangnam-gu Public Health Center screening clinic in Seoul around 1:50 p.m. on the 16th of last month, saying "Be gentle," and repeatedly punching the transparent acrylic wall placed in front of the nurse (violations of the Medical Service Act and insult, etc.).
