28 Additional Cases Confirmed in Gyeongnam... Continued Chain Infections Including Insurance Sector
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jucheol In] While the number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in South Korea has somewhat slowed during the New Year holiday period, sporadic chain infections continue in Gyeongnam Province.
As of 5 p.m. on the 3rd, Gyeongnam Province announced that 28 confirmed cases occurred: 9 in Jinju, 6 in Changwon, 4 in Hadong, 3 each in Geoje and Yangsan, and 1 each in Gimhae, Sacheon, and Haman.
In Changwon, a woman in her 60s related to a religious facility tested positive and was classified as case number 1386. Cases 1391 to 1393, 1401, and 1402, who had contact with confirmed patients in the province, also tested positive. Case 1392 is a student at an elementary school located in Changwon.
In Jinju, 9 confirmed cases occurred: 1383, 1394 to 1397, and 1404 to 1408. All of them were contacts of confirmed patients within the province.
In Geoje, 3 confirmed cases numbered 1387 to 1389 were reported. Case 1387 tested positive after experiencing symptoms and undergoing testing. Case 1388 is related to the Geoje Marine Health Hot Springs cluster. Case 1389 is linked to the Geoje screen golf course cluster.
In Yangsan, 3 confirmed cases numbered 1398 to 1400 were reported. They are family contacts of confirmed patients.
In Hadong, 3 additional confirmed cases related to the group infection in Hwagae-myeon were reported. A man in his 60s and a man in his 30s tested positive and were classified as cases 1384, 1385, and 1409. Accordingly, the number of confirmed cases related to the Hadong cluster infection has increased to 27.
Also in Hadong, a confirmed case related to the Intercop BTJ Yeolbang Center was reported. A man in his 40s tested positive and was classified as case 1403.
Case 1390 in Sacheon tested positive in a pre-release test related to the Sacheon cluster outbreak.
In Gimhae, a woman in her 60s tested positive related to an insurance office in Yeonje-gu, Busan, and was classified as case 1382.
In Haman, a man in his 30s tested positive and was classified as case 1407. The route of infection is unclear.
