View original image[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's Metropolitan Area Wide-area Transportation Committee has decided to invest approximately 2.25 trillion KRW in a total of 16 projects, including 5 in the railway sector, 4 in public transportation, and 7 in road projects, through the Changneung District wide-area transportation review committee deliberations.
According to Goyang City on the 31st, the Metropolitan Area Wide-area Transportation Committee will add Goyang Line and GTX-A stations on the section between Goyang City Hall and Eunpyeong Saejeol Station, and increase railway vehicles on the Gyeongui Line.
The extension of the Goyang Line to the Siksa section, proposed as a solution to the inconvenient transportation issues that began with large-scale apartment sales, was not reflected in the wide-area transportation improvement measures.
Instead, the new transportation means to be operated on the Daegok?Goyang City Hall?Siksa section will allow transfers with GTX, Goyang Line, and Goyang Outer Line at Goyang City Hall and Daegok Station.
In the public transportation sector, transfer facilities will be installed at Hwajeon Station, and a BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) will be newly established on the Jungang-ro to Tongil-ro section, with support for operation and new garage construction costs.
In the road sector, plans include the construction of a connecting road between Ilsan and Seooreung and partial expansion of Seooreung-ro. The connection between Jungang-ro and the 2nd Jayuro will be made, and the Susaek Bridge and Gangbyeon Buk-ro sections in Seoul will also be expanded.
Additionally, some projects were added beyond the initial plan announced in June, such as improvements to the Deok-eun 2nd Jayuro intersection and the construction of roads linking Hwajeon Station and BRT stops.
In particular, the additional GTX-A station requested by residents of Wonheung District will also provide convenience to residents of Changneung District and Deokyang District. The new transportation means planned for the Daegok?Goyang City Hall?Siksa section is expected to greatly alleviate transportation inconveniences in the Siksa and Pungdong areas by connecting with the metropolitan railway network including Seoul Gangnam, Gangbuk, Uijeongbu, and Sosa.
The city plans to invest 20 billion KRW of city funds out of a total project cost of 90 billion KRW (with 70 billion KRW borne by LH) to promote this project. To prepare for the financial sharing required for the extension of the Goyang Line in Changneung District, the city proactively established the 'Goyang City Railway Project Special Account' and accumulated a budget of 19.7 billion KRW.
Earlier, from the announcement of the Changneung District, the city set the policy of 'transportation first, development later,' independently formed a task force team with transportation experts, and prepared plans for expanding the railway network, initial public transportation support, improving transfer systems by transportation mode, and improving access to Seoul.
