Gimhae City Secures Record-High National and Provincial Funding for Public Projects This Year
194 Projects Receive 73% of Total Budget, 149.7 Billion KRW Funded
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Gimhae City in Gyeongnam announced on the 30th that it was selected for 194 public contest projects conducted by external organizations including central government ministries throughout this year, securing 14.97 billion KRW in national and provincial funds, which is 73% of the total 205.6 billion KRW.
This is a record high achievement, increasing by 27.2 billion KRW from last year's 122.5 billion KRW, as a result of systematically analyzing contests and responding strategically at the public contest project discovery briefing held at the beginning of the year.
Major selected public contest projects include the ICT Manufacturing Operating System Development and Demonstration Project, Rural Agreement Pilot Introduction Project, Medical Device Industry Conversion Support Infrastructure Project, and Smart Green City Creation Project.

Mayor Heo Seong-gon said, "As the central government's financial support method expands to selection through project-specific contests, competition among local governments for public projects is fierce," adding, "To solve regional issues and improve financial management efficiency, we will do our best to actively participate in public contest projects conducted by the government and external organizations, as well as the Korean New Deal projects, a government policy, to achieve results."
