Namsan Arts Center's 12-Year History at a Glance: 'Namsan Arts Center Digital Archive' Opens
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] The 'Namsan Arts Center Digital Archive,' which allows a comprehensive view of the 12-year history of Namsan Arts Center, will open on the 31st.
Namsan Arts Center opened as a creative space in Seoul in September 2009 and is scheduled to close on the 31st. The Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture has organized and made public the performances, theater history, spaces, and performance materials from the past 12 years at Namsan Arts Center as a 'digital archive.'
The 'Namsan Arts Center Digital Archive' is built not only as an accumulation of materials related to performances but also as 'semantic data' that can show the meaning and context of the collected materials together. All data are visualized as network graphs to allow archive users to intuitively grasp various information.
The digital archive consists of eight categories: ▲ information on performances and events produced by Namsan Arts Center ▲ information on individuals and groups who participated in performances and events ▲ information on spaces where performances and events were held ▲ information on works such as plays or novels that formed the basis of performances ▲ keyword information representing performances such as genre, theme, and subject ▲ information on incidents related to Namsan Arts Center ▲ performance materials produced at performances and events ▲ press releases and research materials related to performances and events.
Users can also access the 'Namsan Arts Center Performance History Study,' a collection of materials that looks into performances, academic events, and various programs held at Namsan Arts Center over the past 12 years. Photos and VR experiences allow exploration of every corner of the theater spaces, including inside and outside Namsan Arts Center, the lobby, and dressing rooms. Additionally, planned content such as the 'Keyword Collection,' which shows the most frequently appearing keywords representing over 200 performances in one place, and the 'Timeline,' which allows users to see how Namsan Arts Center, producing works reflecting contemporaneity, has influenced and been influenced by Korean society, have been prepared.
The 'Namsan Arts Center Digital Archive' will be accessible from 2 p.m. on the 31st through the same website address as the existing Namsan Arts Center × Samillo Warehouse Theater (www.nsac.or.kr). Citizens, creators, researchers, and others can freely use the necessary materials.
