'10th Nuclear Safety and Promotion Day Commemoration Ceremony' Held Online

Minister Choi emphasized this in his congratulatory speech at the 10th Nuclear Safety and Promotion Day ceremony, held online and hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and organized by the Korea Nuclear Industry Association.
He stated, "The Ministry of Science and ICT is actively supporting research and development to respond to environmental changes and prepare for the future," adding, "Next year, we plan to invest 315 billion KRW in nuclear research and development, an increase of 25 billion KRW compared to the previous year."
He particularly noted, "The investment will focus on enhancing nuclear power plant safety, developing core decommissioning technologies, and advancing small modular reactor technologies."
Jung Jae-hoon, Chairman of the Korea Nuclear Industry Association (President of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power), also mentioned in his congratulatory speech, "The nuclear sector must create new growth engines in response to the rapidly changing energy landscape," and urged, "Let us combine with Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies to create safer and more convenient energy."
At the event, 15 individuals were selected for government awards, including Kang Jae-yeol, Executive Vice President of the Korea Nuclear Industry Association, who received the Order of Science and Technology (Woongbi Medal) for his contributions to the commissioning and maintenance contract of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
