Gwangju Nam-gu Selected as an Excellent Institution in the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's 'Public Service Establishment Project'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Byeong-nae) announced on the 29th that it was selected as an excellent institution in the 'Visiting Health and Welfare Sector' at the Best Practice Competition hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, receiving a financial incentive of 10 million won.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety conducted evaluations on policies promoted by local governments to establish a resident-centered visiting field service base and discover resident-experienced policies. Nam-gu achieved the distinction of being selected as an excellent institution in this sector for three consecutive years from 2018 to this year.
In this year's evaluation, Nam-gu received favorable reviews for its efforts to strengthen resident welfare and health service functions by establishing and operating dedicated visiting health and welfare service teams at 16 administrative welfare centers in the district and assigning nursing public officials to 7 administrative welfare centers to expand health and welfare infrastructure.
Additionally, Nam-gu provided visiting health and welfare counseling services to residents, conducting a total of 31,998 services by the end of October this year. It also carried out the 'Creating a Happy and Healthy Village Together' project targeting residents of Wol-san-dong and Sajik-dong, promoting health improvement activities and implementing highly perceptible policy projects.

A Nam-gu official stated, “The reason we were able to be selected as an excellent institution for three consecutive years in the resident-autonomous public service establishment project hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety is due to our efforts to discover field-centered health and welfare services,” adding, “We will continue to work even harder to improve residents' welfare awareness.”
