Former Lawmaker Lee Chun-seok Appointed as Next Secretary General of the National Assembly
[Asia Economy Reporter Wondara] Former Democratic Party of Korea lawmaker Lee Chun-seok has been nominated as the next Secretary General of the National Assembly.
A National Assembly Speaker's Office official told Asia Economy on the 29th, "I understand that discussions have taken place with Lee regarding the nomination," adding, "An official announcement is expected soon." According to the National Assembly Act, the appointment ceremony for former lawmaker Lee's Secretary General position is scheduled to take place at the plenary session in early January.
Former lawmaker Lee was elected in the 18th general election as a candidate of the United Democratic Party in Iksan Gap, Jeonbuk, and served three consecutive terms. He held positions such as Secretary General, Chair of the Human Rights Committee, Senior Deputy Floor Leader, and Spokesperson within the Democratic Party. In the 21st general election, he lost the party primary to lawmaker Kim Su-heung.
