Hwasun-gun Secures Additional 2.5 Billion KRW in National Funding for Medical-Linked Forest Healing Center Project
[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Young-gyun] Jeonnam Hwasun-gun (Governor Gu Chung-gon) announced on the 28th that it has secured an additional budget of 2.5 billion KRW in national funds for the ‘National Hwasun Healing Forest (Medical-Linked Forest Healing Center) Construction’ project and will expand and promote the project.
Previously, the county proposed to the Korea Forest Service last year a medical-linked forest healing center construction project with a total budget of 15 billion KRW, actively promoting the creation of a forest welfare hub space linked with medical services.
In response to the county’s proposal, the Korea Forest Service supported 5 billion KRW in national funds this year and proceeded with detailed design, etc.
The county has emphasized the need to expand facilities and equipment and has requested central government ministries to increase the project budget by 10 billion KRW.
Governor Gu Chung-gon frequently visited central government ministries such as the Korea Forest Service and the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, emphasizing the need to expand the medical-linked forest healing center project and increase national funds, and worked tirelessly to secure national funding.
The county persuaded central government officials that expanding the project scale and budget would enable the provision of high-quality ‘forest health care services’ through facility enlargement and complex formation, and recently secured an additional 2.5 billion KRW.
Accordingly, the county will invest 7.5 billion KRW by next year to build a medical-linked forest healing center in the Suman-ri area of Hwasun-eup.
It plans to construct a building with a total floor area of 1,587㎡, consisting of one basement floor and two above-ground floors, using nature-friendly wood materials.
The county plans to establish the medical-linked forest healing center as a new forest welfare hub by linking it with surrounding forest healing, recreation, tourism, medical infrastructure (medical tourism), and cultural tourism resources.
Surrounding the site of the nation’s first medical-linked forest healing center are established facilities such as Manyeonsan Five Senses Connection Trail, Healing Forest Trail, Healing Forest Center, Forest Experience Site, and Dongguri Lake Park.
It is expected that linking with the popular forest resources and healing programs around Manyeonsan will create a synergistic effect.
Recently, the county held a working council with the Korea Forest Service and Jeonnam Province to discuss the utilization plan for the additional 2.5 billion KRW in national funds and the construction plan for the medical-linked forest healing center project.
