KST Mobility to Implement 'Eco-Friendly Electric Taxi Platform' in Jeju Island
Smart City Challenge Demonstration Project Progress
[Asia Economy Reporter Bu Aeri] KST Mobility, the operator of Macaron Taxi, announced on the 24th that it will conduct a demonstration project for the 'Jeju Smart City Challenge.'
The Smart City Challenge, led by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, is a project that fosters and supports services that solve urban problems using creative ideas from local governments, companies, and universities.
KST Mobility formed a consortium with 12 organizations including Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, Daily Blockchain, GS Caltex, KT, KAIST, Jeju National University, and JDC, and applied in May for the citizen-led smart hub 'e-Samda (3DA)' future (living) city, being selected for the Smart City Challenge project.
In this demonstration project, KST Mobility is responsible for developing and operating the eco-friendly MaaS (Mobility as a Service) platform app 'GREEGO,' sharing carbon-neutral micro-mobility such as ultra-small electric vehicles and electric bicycles, and operating demand-responsive shuttle buses.
The GREEGO app means 'connecting eco-friendly (GREEN) mobility (GO)' and is a service for reserving and paying for electric taxis Macaron Green, ultra-small electric vehicle Twizy, electric bicycle Macaron Bike, electric kickboards, and demand-responsive shuttle buses.
To implement this, KST Mobility established smart hubs where electric charging and eco-friendly micro-mobility can be shared at seven locations including GS Caltex gas stations, GS25 convenience stores, and E-Mart within Jeju Island. Residents and tourists of Jeju can use the registered mobility means on the app for 2,000 to 3,000 KRW per hour.
