Beijing, China Sees Spread of Asymptomatic COVID-19 Infections
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] After two confirmed cases of COVID-19 were reported at a hotel in Beijing, China, asymptomatic infections have been occurring consecutively.
According to a source in Beijing on the 24th, a Korean company’s resident employee who returned to Korea through Tianjin Airport on the 22nd was confirmed as an asymptomatic carrier at Incheon Airport.
Accordingly, Chinese quarantine authorities instructed the resident employees of the company who had contact with the infected person to self-isolate.
They also recommended that the resident employee’s family use the bathroom and bedroom separately or undergo self-quarantine.
Currently, it is known that asymptomatic infections among employees belonging to the company are being confirmed one after another.
Earlier, on the 23rd, a suspected COVID-19 patient was reported in a residential complex in Shunyi District, Beijing, leading to the lockdown of the complex.
Beijing quarantine authorities are conducting nucleic acid tests on about 2,000 people in the residential complex and implementing quarantine measures.
This residential complex is located about 10 km away from the hotel where two confirmed cases occurred on the 18th.
