BMW, Audi and 76 Other Models, 210,000 Units Recalled
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 24th that a total of 210,738 vehicles across 76 models manufactured or imported and sold by Korea GM, BMW Korea, Audi Volkswagen Korea, FCA Korea, and Korea Nissan have been found to have manufacturing defects and will be subject to corrective action (recall).
A total of 134,493 units of 5 models including Korea GM's Lacetti were found to have a possibility of transmission or acceleration failure due to improper hydraulic formation caused by internal welding defects in the automatic transmission control device.
175 units of the Traverse are being recalled due to a possibility of engine stalling caused by poor fuel supply resulting from manufacturing defects in internal parts of the fuel pump.
A total of 63,332 units of 44 models including the BMW 520d imported and sold by BMW Korea were found to have a possibility of timing chain wear and breakage due to improper lubrication of the timing chain when fuel mixes with engine oil.
A total of 10,257 units of 6 models including the BMW 530e iPerformance were found to have a possibility that foreign substances inside the high-voltage battery cells were not completely removed during the cell production process.
A total of 89 units of 9 models including the BMW X5 xDrive30d (including pre-sale units) were decided to be recalled due to a possibility of fire caused by poor contact between terminals and wiring resulting from improper fixation of the alternator connection wiring during the manufacturing process.
A total of 8,103 units of 4 models including the Audi A6 45 TFSI qu. Premium imported and sold by Audi Volkswagen Korea were found to have a possibility of engine misfire (engine shaking) and stalling caused by malfunction of the intake cam due to a software error in the camshaft adjustment system.
A total of 329 units of the Lamborghini Urus are subject to corrective action due to a possibility of fire caused by damage to the fuel supply hose connector from insufficient heat resistance to engine heat, resulting in fuel leakage.

The recalled vehicles can receive free repairs at the manufacturers' or sellers' service centers. The manufacturers will notify owners of the corrective measures via postal mail and mobile text messages. If vehicle owners have repaired the defect at their own expense before the recall, they can apply for cost reimbursement from the manufacturer.
