Two Senior Officials of Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Test Positive for COVID-19... "Working from Home"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] NHK reported on the 22nd that two senior officials of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF), including the Kaijo Bakury?ch?, equivalent to the Chief of Naval Staff in South Korea, tested positive for COVID-19.
According to the report, the JMSDF announced that on the same day, Yamamura Hiroshi, the Kaijo Bakury?ch?, and Nishi Naruto (56), the Bakury?buch?, were confirmed to be infected with COVID-19. The Kaijo Bakury?ch? corresponds to the Chief of Naval Staff in South Korea.
Both individuals currently show no symptoms and are working from isolated locations or their homes, the JMSDF stated. After a JMSDF member tested positive for COVID-19, they underwent polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing at a medical institution in Tokyo the previous day. Several other personnel working around these two officials also tested positive, and an investigation is underway to determine the infection route.
