Hanssem, a 'Family-Friendly Certified' Company... 98% Usage of Parental Leave
[Asia Economy Reporter Junhyung Lee] Hanssem, a comprehensive home interior specialist company, announced on the 22nd that it has been selected as a '2020 Family-Friendly Certified' company by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family.
The Family-Friendly Certification system, implemented since 2008, is a program where the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family grants a 3-year certification to companies that exemplary operate family-friendly systems enabling employees to balance work and family life, such as support for childbirth and child-rearing.
Hanssem provides monthly childcare expenses to employees who have given birth until their children enter elementary school, and offers a total of 2 years of parental leave, which includes the legally mandated 1 year plus an additional 1 year. From 2017 to last year, over 98% of female employees who gave birth used parental leave.
Since 2012, Hanssem has been directly operating in-house daycare centers at its Sangam and Bangbae office buildings, and all teachers working at these daycare centers are employed as regular full-time staff, which was also reflected in this evaluation.
Additionally, since October 2018, Hanssem introduced a flexible working hours system for office workers, allowing them to autonomously choose their commuting times according to their work style. For field workers, a deemed working hours system was implemented to guarantee work autonomy. Through these various family-friendly systems tailored to stages of family life such as marriage, pregnancy, childbirth, and child-rearing, Hanssem received favorable evaluations from the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family.
