2020 Angel Investment Promotion Merit Awardees
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The Korea Angel Investment Association (Chairman Ko Young-ha, hereinafter referred to as the Angel Association) announced on the 21st that it will hold an award ceremony for the Minister of SMEs and Startups' Commendation for individuals and organizations that contributed to the activation of domestic angel investment at the '2020 Go-Venture, Angel Leaders, and TIPS Joint Forum (hereinafter referred to as the Joint Forum)'.
The awards for contributions to the activation of angel investment include a total of four Ministerial Commendations in the categories of ▲Angel Investor ▲Individual Investment Association ▲Angel Club ▲Angel Investment Support. The Ministerial Commendations by category were awarded to Park Hyun-jun, CEO of Gentium Partners (Angel Investor category), Kang Soo-hyun, CEO of Cosine Investment (Individual Investment Association category), AI Angel Club (Angel Club category), and Partner Lawyer Ryu Kwon-young of Law Firm Ihu (Angel Investment Support category).
CEO Park Hyun-jun has contributed to market activation as an angel investor by focusing intensive investments on early startups, with follow-up investment attraction amounts reaching 330 billion KRW. CEO Kang Soo-hyun has been recognized for operating a total of six investment associations worth 17.7 billion KRW since being selected as the first professional individual investor in 2011, conducting business strategy and financial consulting for follow-up investment attraction of investee companies, leading to a total of 130 billion KRW in follow-up investments. AI Angel Club, formed in 2015, has an excellent angel investment record, having invested about 7 billion KRW, attracted 3.76 billion KRW in matching funds, and secured a total of 58 billion KRW in follow-up investments. Partner Lawyer Ryu Kwon-young has continuously carried out support activities such as 105 legal education sessions for angel investor training, 19 training sessions to strengthen the investment capabilities of startup companies, and 120 mentoring sessions to expand the base of angel investment overall.
