[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Muan County, Jeollanam-do (County Governor Kim San) announced on the 18th that it visited the National Assembly on the 16th to request government budget support so that Muan County projects could be reflected in next year's government budget proposal.
On that day, Governor Kim San met with Seo Sam-seok, a member of the National Assembly representing the local district, and Song Gap-seok, a Democratic Party member of the National Assembly, to explain the feasibility and necessity of the projects and requested their cooperation to ensure the projects are included in the government budget.
Muan County is promoting the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' Makerspace Specialized Lab project to establish a startup space for manufacturing smart agriculture-related products by integrating agriculture with 4th Industrial Revolution convergence technologies, and plans to conduct various educational programs.
Main facilities such as specialized equipment rooms, classrooms, and research labs are planned to be installed. These will be linked with ongoing projects in Muan County, including the youth startup management practice center, smart farm pilot complex, and harvesting robot demonstration complex, to support agricultural demonstrations of related products and strengthen the competitiveness of smart agriculture technologies.
If the Makerspace Specialized Lab project is confirmed, the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation of Mokpo National University will operate the facility. The foundation includes related institutions such as the Startup Incubation Center and the Robot Artificial Intelligence Convergence Center. In particular, the Startup Incubation Center has demonstrated expertise by receiving an A grade for seven consecutive years in evaluations by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
Meanwhile, in December last year, the general type Makerspace was confirmed and about 20 pieces of equipment including 3D printers and laser cutters were installed at the Namak Resident Complex Center, operated by the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation of Mokpo National University. So far, 800 makers have been trained, of whom 54 are currently active as after-school instructors.
In particular, the county has supported two cooperatives related to the 4th Industrial Revolution, achieving significant results and receiving the highest grade in this year's Ministry of SMEs and Startups general lab operation evaluation.
