Gyeongnam Provincial Office of Education Mass Spread... Cumulative Confirmed Cases 988 (Comprehensive)
26 Confirmed Cases Including Provincial Office of Education, Gimhae Senior Daycare Center, and Changwon Daycare Center
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] As a large number of domestic confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) continue to pour in, double-digit confirmed cases have not ceased in Gyeongnam.
Gyeongnam Province announced on the 18th at 1:30 PM that 26 cases were confirmed: 10 in Changwon, 3 in Sacheon, 3 in Geoje, 5 in Gimhae, 2 in Jinju, 1 in Tongyeong, and 2 in Miryang.
Among the 10 confirmed cases in Changwon, 5 are employees of the Provincial Office of Education. A woman in her 30s, a man in his 50s, two men in their 40s, and a woman in her 40s tested positive and were classified as cases 976 to 980. This brings the total number of confirmed cases among the Provincial Office of Education employees to 6.
Park Jonghun, the Superintendent of Education, who was classified as a close contact, tested negative and is currently quarantined at home.
Two additional infections related to a daycare center in Changwon were confirmed. A teenage female child of case 939 and a man in his 40s tested positive and were classified as cases 971 and 972. Additionally, a man in his 40s with an unknown infection route tested positive and was classified as case 973.
In Sacheon, a man in his 50s and a man in his 60s tested positive at a restaurant and a bathhouse, respectively, and were classified as cases 966 and 974. Also, a woman in her 20s who had contact with family members tested positive and was classified as case 983.
In Geoje, a woman in her 40s and a woman in her 50s who had contact with confirmed cases in the province tested positive and were classified as cases 967 and 986. Subsequently, a teenage male who had contact with case 967 was classified as case 968 and was confirmed to be attending a middle school in Geoje. Health authorities plan to conduct tests on the faculty and students of the school.
Four additional confirmed cases related to the Gimhae Elderly Daycare Center were reported. Women in their 40s, 50s, and 80s, and a man in his 60s tested positive and were classified as cases 969 to 988 and 991. This brings the total number of confirmed cases related to the Gimhae Elderly Daycare Center to 45. Additionally, a woman in her 50s who had contact with a confirmed case from Busan tested positive and was classified as case 989.
A man in his 20s and a woman in her 50s in Jinju tested positive after contact with confirmed cases in the province and were classified as cases 975 and 987.
In Miryang, a man in his 20s who had contact with case 738, a confirmed patient at Miryang Yoon Hospital, developed symptoms and tested positive, classified as case 990. This brings the total number of confirmed cases related to Miryang Yoon Hospital to 14. Also, a woman in her 60s with U.S. nationality tested positive and was classified as case 970.
A woman in her 50s confirmed in Tongyeong is related to the Geoje shipyard cluster and developed symptoms during self-quarantine, testing positive and classified as case 984.
