Gyeongnam Reports 39 New COVID-19 Cases Including 'Unknown Infection Routes'... Total Accumulated Cases Reach 962 (Comprehensive 2)
Many Cases with Unclear Infection Routes in Gimhae, Changwon, Sacheon, Geoje, and Others
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] As the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in South Korea shows no signs of slowing down, the number of double-digit confirmed cases in Gyeongnam continues unabated.
As of 5 p.m. on the 17th, Gyeongnam Province announced that 39 confirmed cases occurred: 11 in Gimhae, 9 in Changwon, 5 in Geoje, 5 in Sacheon, 3 in Yangsan, 3 in Jinju, 2 in Changnyeong, and 1 in Miryang.
Among the confirmed cases in Gimhae, two people in their 50s, a married couple with an unknown infection route, along with the wife’s mother and older sister, tested positive and were classified as cases 944 to 947. Additionally, a woman in her 40s who had contact with a confirmed case in Busan tested positive and was classified as case 952. The remaining six confirmed cases were all related to the Gimhae Elderly Daycare Center, classified as cases 943, 965, and 948 to 951. This brings the total number of confirmed cases related to the Gimhae Elderly Daycare Center to 41.
In Changwon, four men with unknown infection routes were classified as cases 927, 954, 955, and 964. Notably, case 955 is an employee of the Gyeongnam Office of Education.
At a daycare center in Changwon, a woman in her 40s and a female child tested positive and were classified as cases 939 and 940. Additionally, a man in his 40s and two people in their 70s who had contact with confirmed cases in the province tested positive and were classified as cases 937, 941, and 942, respectively.
In Geoje, two women who had contact with confirmed cases in the province tested positive and were classified as cases 930 and 938. Two men in their 40s, colleagues of confirmed case 911 related to the Geoje shipyard, also tested positive and were classified as cases 931 and 932. Furthermore, a teenage male elementary school student who had contact with family members was infected and classified as case 934.
In Yangsan, a man in his 50s with an unknown infection route was classified as case 936. Additionally, a teenage high school student and a woman in her 40s who had contact with confirmed cases in Ulsan and Busan tested positive and were classified as cases 956 and 957.
All three confirmed cases in Sacheon were men and women in their 50s who tested positive after contact with case 903 and were classified as cases 958 to 960. The other two cases are under investigation for unknown infection routes and were classified as cases 961 and 962.
In Jinju, a woman in her 60s who voluntarily got tested after feeling symptoms and a man in his 60s who is a family member of case 933 tested positive and were classified as cases 933 and 935. A Vietnamese woman in her 20s with an unknown infection route was classified as case 963.
In Changnyeong, men and women in their 60s and 70s who tested positive after contact with cases 898 and 899 were classified as cases 928 and 929.
The teenage female confirmed case in Miryang is a family member of confirmed case 804 from Miryang Yun Hospital and was classified as case 953.
