Garak Market LED Lighting Replacement Approaches Carbon Neutrality
Annual Electricity Consumption Reduced by 674,941 KWh, Expected Greenhouse Gas Reduction of 314.69 tCO₂-eq
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seoul Agro-Fisheries & Food Corporation (President Kim Kyungho) started a project in March this year to replace the general lighting at Garak Market with LED lighting to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and completed it last month.
By replacing 2,900 LED lights, including indoor lighting at Garak Market and outdoor street lamps, it is expected to save 674,941 kWh of electricity annually, reduce electricity costs by 68 million KRW, and cut greenhouse gas emissions by 314.69 tCO₂-eq.
The saved electricity costs are expected to contribute to lowering management fees for distributors within the market and provide a safe and comfortable wholesale market environment by securing sufficient brightness through increased illuminance.
