Gyeongbuk Province Secures 699 Billion KRW in National Funding for Agricultural and Livestock Distribution Sector Next Year... 40% Increase from This Year
Expecting Revitalization of Agriculture and Rural Economy Stagnated by COVID-19
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-ho] Gyeongbuk Province announced on the 16th that it has secured a budget of 699 billion KRW for national projects in the agriculture, livestock, and distribution sectors for next year, an increase of 200.6 billion KRW (40.2%) compared to this year's 498.4 billion KRW, following the confirmation of the government budget proposal.
The major projects reflected in the government budget include ▲Leased Smart Farm (5 billion KRW) ▲Open-field Smart Agriculture Pilot Project (7.4 billion KRW) ▲Smart Horticulture Complex Infrastructure Development (1.6 billion KRW) ▲Smart Livestock ICT Pilot Complex Construction Project (0.5 billion KRW) ▲Expansion of ICT Convergence in Livestock Sector (3.9 billion KRW) ▲Insect Industrialization and Distribution Project (0.4 billion KRW) ▲Seed Industry Infrastructure Establishment Project (1.3 billion KRW), among others.
To strengthen the competitiveness of agricultural products and expand sales networks, projects such as Rural Convergence Industry District Development (1 billion KRW), Local Food Direct Store Support Project (2.2 billion KRW), Agricultural Product Production Area Distribution Center Installation (6.2 billion KRW), Fruit Production Hub Distribution Center Construction (2 billion KRW), Agricultural Product Joint Sorting Cost Support (1.8 billion KRW), Fruit Specialty Production Complex Infrastructure Development (10 billion KRW), High-Quality Fruit Facility Modernization Project (7 billion KRW), and Field Crop Joint Management Body Development Support (4.7 billion KRW) were also included.
Projects aimed at ensuring food security and responding to climate change include Agricultural Machinery Rental Project (7.6 billion KRW), High-Quality Rice Distribution Activation Project (1.9 billion KRW), Grain Management Support (2.9 billion KRW), Water Development for Drought Preparedness (3.6 billion KRW), and Drainage Improvement Project (20.1 billion KRW).
Projects to strengthen the public interest role of agriculture include ▲Direct Payment for Public Interest Promotion (365.9 billion KRW) ▲Support for Fruit Snacks in Elementary After-School Care Classes (0.6 billion KRW) ▲Agricultural Food Voucher Pilot Project (0.7 billion KRW) ▲Support for Eco-friendly Agricultural Product Packages for Pregnant Women (0.2 billion KRW) ▲School Milk Supply Support (4 billion KRW), among others.
Additionally, to create rural spaces where culture, education, and welfare are fulfilled, projects such as Rural Center Revitalization (55.2 billion KRW), Basic Living Base Development (42.2 billion KRW), New Vitality Plus Project (19.6 billion KRW), Youth Rural Settlement Creation Project (1.4 billion KRW), and Rural Childcare Environment Improvement Project (0.3 billion KRW) were reflected.
