Jeonnam Province Accelerates 'Clean Jeonnam Blue Economy' Project Implementation
Establishment of the 100 Major Tasks Roadmap
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province is accelerating the implementation of the ‘Clean Jeonnam Blue Economy’ 100 Major Promotion Tasks Roadmap.
On the 15th, Jeonnam Province held a report meeting on the establishment of the ‘Clean Jeonnam Blue Economy 100 Major Tasks Roadmap’ and announced that it had selected 100 major promotion tasks and decided to invest 75 trillion won by 2030.
At the report meeting, the province presented the future development vision as ‘A sustainable new future, Clean Jeonnam Blue Economy.’ The three major goals were set as ▲ Jeonnam full of jobs ▲ Jeonnam full of vitality ▲ Jeonnam full of charm.
By investing 75 trillion won by 2030, the province aims to create 170,000 jobs, enter the top 10 among nationwide metropolitan local governments in per capita income, improve residential conditions such as medical care and environment, and provide a national happiness space through tourism and healing, focusing on these goals.
The province completed the ‘Blue Economy 100 Major Tasks’ by establishing promotion strategies for six major projects including energy, tourism, bio, future transportation devices, agriculture and fisheries, and smart cities, while reorganizing existing tasks and adding newly discovered tasks.
For each field of the projects, the energy sector consists of 19 tasks including establishing a secondary battery material and component platform, creating a dedicated RE100 pilot industrial complex, and building a public ESS to expand renewable energy.
The tourism sector includes 18 tasks such as creating Korea’s ecological and stay-type hub tourist sites, building a VR-based Namdo travel experiential tourism platform, and establishing a Northeast Asia garden industry hub.
In the bio sector, there are 19 tasks including the construction of a national medical school and cardiovascular center, establishment of the K-Immunity Research Innovation Center, and building a medical-linked healing healthcare platform. The future transportation devices sector consists of 19 tasks including creating a specialized complex for future flying vehicle production and attracting anchor companies, developing core technologies for smart mini shuttles, and the newly added ship-related ‘Establishment of a domestic LNG cryogenic insulation system base.’
Additionally, in the agriculture and fisheries sector, there are 17 tasks such as establishing a national climate change response agricultural research complex and building a rural integrated support platform utilizing wired and wireless networks. The smart city sector presents 8 tasks including the distribution of basic income-guaranteed housing and fostering the smart wellness industry.
The province also categorized the 100 major promotion tasks into short-term tasks to produce visible results within the 7th local government term and mid-to-long-term tasks requiring inclusion in national plans or attracting private investment, systematizing them into an annual roadmap until 2030.
In particular, the province plans to accelerate projects including the existing core projects such as the Jeonnam-type win-win job project ‘Large-scale offshore wind power complex creation,’ climate change response ‘Hosting the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of the Parties,’ and immunity specialization ‘Attracting the National Advanced Medical Complex.’

Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeonnam Province, said, “The core projects of the Blue Economy align with the Korean New Deal, which aims for economic structure advancement and sustainable job creation, and Jeonnam will present a region-led growth model. Let us establish detailed execution plans for the 100 proposed tasks and proceed to create a Jeonnam full of jobs, vitality, and charm.”
