Gwangju Office of Education Drastically Reduces Next Year's School Public Project Competitions
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] The Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education has significantly reduced the number of public contest projects for schools in the 2021 academic year to focus on teaching and life education for school staff and to simplify administrative procedures.
According to the Office of Education on the 16th, the number of public contest projects for schools in the 2021 academic year is 31, a 43% reduction compared to the previous year (72 projects).
This reorganization of public contest projects was promoted to support smooth school educational activities by integrating projects and research groups of similar nature and expanding the standard school operating expenses to enhance the operation of school curricula and autonomy.
The abolished public contest projects include ▲Unit School International Exchange Learning Support ▲Together One Step Project for the Spread of School Culture Innovation ▲7560+ Movement Leading Schools, among others.
In the case of ‘School Violence Peer Counseling Operating Schools,’ it will be integrated with ‘School Violence Prevention Education Operating Schools’ and converted into a mandatory project under the standard education expenses.
Additionally, projects such as ‘Sustainable Development (Daga-chi Green) Education,’ ‘School Eco-friendly Vegetable Garden Project,’ and ‘Excellent School Sports Clubs’ will be changed to operate based on demand surveys or integrated into projects of similar nature.
The Office of Education also improved the online system for public contest projects introduced last year, enhancing functions to allow automatic input by school and the uploading of multiple attachments.
Through this, it is expected that the simplification of procedures and processes will greatly reduce the administrative workload of school and education office staff.
