NC, 'OpenChain Project' International Certification Acquired... First Game Company
[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] NCSoft announced on the 15th that it has obtained international certification as a company compliant with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 'OpenChain Project' standard. It is the first among global game companies.
The 'OpenChain Project,' initiated by the Linux Foundation, is a system that evaluates each company's open source software compliance capabilities and issues international certification.
NCSoft is the second domestic company to receive certification after LG Electronics. Approximately 50 global companies, including Google, Microsoft (MS), and Siemens, have been certified.
Since 2016, NCSoft has been conducting activities for open source software compliance with specialized personnel. It has been recognized for its capabilities such as regularly conducting training, identifying licenses from the software development stage, and establishing a system to comply with obligations.

Shim Maro, NCSoft's Chief Technology Officer (CTO), said, "The importance of using open source in the technology industry is increasing day by day," adding, "As a leading domestic IT company, we will contribute to the open source we use and continuously disclose the codes developed internally."
