'Chain Infection' Andong-si, Full Closure of Daycare Centers ... "Emergency Childcare Plan Established"
Since the 11th, 14 Confirmed Cases Have Occurred Concentratedly
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-ho] Andong City, Gyeongbuk Province, announced on the 15th that it has ordered a temporary closure of all 94 daycare centers in the city from the 14th until further notice, in response to the recent chain infections of COVID-19 that began on the 11th.
However, in preparation for cases where guardians in dual-income households cannot care for young children at home, an emergency childcare plan has been established and communicated to each daycare center for operation.
The Andong City Childcare Comprehensive Support Center and Ainuri Toy Library will also be temporarily closed from the 14th until further notice. Considering the increased demand for home childcare, toy rentals will be conducted by reservation in a separate space.
Mayor Kwon Young-se said, "COVID-19 is spreading rapidly, so we decided to close the daycare centers for the safety of children," adding, "However, we will do our best to prevent any childcare gaps for dual-income families."
